Body-Centered Counselor Specializing in Relationships and Intimacy

Anna Mayer is a body-centered counselor with a Master’s in Somatic Counseling Psychology and a focus on Dance/Movement Therapy. She specializes in Somatic-Concentric Sex Therapy, a holistic approach that blends aspects of dance/movement therapy with traditional sex therapy, with awareness of sociocultural context. Anna’s work is rooted in an inclusive, trauma-informed framework, integrating experiential knowledge with evidence-based practices.

With over ten years of experience and training in embodied intimacy skills, Anna regularly co-facilitates professional training on Somatic-Concentric Sex Therapy (S-CST), offering therapists an in-depth, body-centered approach to sex therapy since 2018. In addition, Anna co-presents on S-CST at national conferences alongside Melissa Walker and provides intensive workshops for couples to build embodied intimacy and deeper connection. Anna offers supervision and consultation for therapists and maintains an active therapy practice with couples and individuals exploring topics such as desire differences, emotional intimacy, and attachment, questions about sexual orientation and gender, sexual preferences and kinks, and transitions between monogamy and ethical non-monogamy.

Beyond her primary approach of somatic counseling and dance/movement therapy, with specialization in sex therapy, Anna’s professional training and lenses include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), somatic trauma resolution, parts work, Somatic Abolitionism, EFT, PACT, nature-based therapy interventions, Motivational Interviewing, and holistic substance recovery strategies.  As an active member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) and the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA), she is committed to advancing professional knowledge in sex therapy and somatic counseling.
